IBRAHIM, Hon. Alhaji Idris

Honourable Idris Ibrahim is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. He wasborn on October 1, 1942 in Kuta, but hishome placeis Minna, Niger State. Early in life, he attended Minna Elementary School and later Abuja Senior Primary School. In 1960, he passed the West African School Certificate at Barewa College, Zaria. Aprofes sional chartered quantity surveyor, Hon. Idris Ibrahim also attended South West Essex Technical College, London and Glasgow College of Builiding. He passed thefinal parts Iand II of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and that of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors in 1974. Career-wise, Hon. Idris Ibrahim was the Deputy Chief Estate Engineer, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1974. He accepted the try ing task of being the Commissioner of Informa tion, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Niger State in 1975. A year later he became the Commis sioner for Health in the same State. He was the State's Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Co-operatives in 1977. In the same year he became the Chairman, Nigerian Planconsult Limited. Hon. Idris Ibrahim married his two wives, Esther Asabe in 1969 and Dr. Gladys Hadiza in 1976 respectively. He has five children. He is widely travelled and has visited U.K., East and West Germany, USSR, Holland, Belgium, France, USA, India, Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and Cameroon. His hobbies are polo (he owns ten horses), athletics, football, hockey and tennis. Hon. Alhaji Idris Ibrahim belongs to the Na tional Party of Nigeria and represents Minna South, Niger State.
