GAPSUK, Hon. Ambrose Naanlong

Honourable A. N. Gapsuk was born at Ngaras in the Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State on 6th February, 1942. He is a christian by faith and Roman Catholic by denomination and was influenced early life by Roman Catholic Doctrines and Catholic Mis sionaries. His parents, Mr. Gapsuk Annoem, a farmer at Shendam, and Mrs. Noekum Gapsuk, had six children. He was at RCM School, Kwalla, from 1949 to 1952 and RCM Senior Primary School, Kwande, from 1953-to 1955. He went to the College of Mary Immaculate, Kafanchan from 1957 to 1959 and 1962 to 1964 respectively. From 1965 to 1966, he went to the Advanced Teachers' College, Zaria. Between September 1966 and 1969, he attended the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He went back in the Universi ty in 1974 for a year's diploma course in educa tion. / Hon. Gapsuk obtained Standard Six School Leaving Certificate 1955;- Grade III Teachers' 1964; General Certificate of Education (Or dinary Level) in January 1965; G.C.E. Advanc ed Level in January 1966; B.A. (Hons.) History June 1969 and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education in 1975. Hon. Gapsuk worked as a teacher with the Ministry of Education from 1960 to 1965. From 1969 to 1970 he worked with the Shell Nigeria as a sales representative. After working with Shell Nigeria for a year he joined the Co operatives as an Assistant Registrar. He went back to the Ministry of Education, now as Prin cipal, Community Secondary School, Shen dam 1972 to 1975. He was transferred to Tilley Gyado College, Makurdi where he remained as principal till his resignation in 1976. Later in 1976 he became the Dean of Students Affairs, , University of Jos till 1979 when he opted for politics.He is a member of Nigerian Peoples Party and represents the Shendam East Constituen cy, Plateau State in the House of Representatives.
