Hon. Athanasius lyortim Ityo was born in 1953 at Daudu, Benue State. He received his elementary school education at St. Anthonys School in Kadaroko between 1964 and 1968 and at St. Theresa's School in Makurdi from 1969 to 1970. He went to Gwaso Commercial College from 1972 to 1973, and the Central Commercial College, Makurdi, from 1973 to 1975. Where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1975. In July 1979, he was elected a member of the House of Representatives' for Awe, Plateau State, on the platform of the Nigeria Peoples Party. He is a christian by birth and he married the former Miss Agnes Kwaghobo lorshe in 1973. They have three children. His hobby is football.
