UMAR, Hon. Bukar

Honourable Bukar Umar was born in 1948 at Ndufu Ngala District in Borno State. He is one of the nine children of Malam Umar, a farmer of Ndufu Ngala District and Mallama Kellu of Ndufu Ngala who had seven children of the nine. Honourable Bukar Umar attended Ngala Primary school from 1957 to 1960. He later went to Bama Boarding Senior Primary School from 1960 to 1963 and finished up with a Grade II Teacher's Certificate from the Borno Teacher's College in 1969. He was made the Headmaster of the Ngala Primary School from 1971 to 1976. He became the Councillor for Education at the Ngala Local Government Area from 1977 to 1979. He got married to Mrs. Bintu Bukar on 29th May, 1977 and they have two children, while he had two children from his first marriage to Mallama Fanna Lavan. Honourable Bukar Umar is widely travelled. Among the places he has visited are Chad Republic and the Cameroun Republic. His hobbies are hunting, horse riding and football. He is a member of the Great Nigeria Peoples' Party and represents Ngala East in the House of Representatives.
