DAGOGO, Hon. Princewill

Born in Buguma in the Rivers State on January 16, 1940. Hon. Dagogo Princewill is one of the fifteen children of Chief E. T. Princewill Amachree, a trader resident in Buguma. His mother, Mrs. Eva Ibiniala Princewill of blessed memory, had six children. Young Princewill started his early education at St. Saviours School in 1946. He obtained his Primary School Certificate in 1953. In 1954, he was admitted into the Kalahari National Col lege, Buguma where he studied till 1959 to ob tain his West African School Certificate and General Certificate of Education. In 1960 he took up a job as a cashier with the Standard Bank (Now First Bank of Nigeria). From 1966 — 71 he worked as an Accoun tant with the Unipetrol (Nig.) Ltd. Hon Princewill proceeded to the United Kingdom in 1971 to study at the Birmingham Polytechnic for a period of three years. In 1975, he gained admission into the West Bromwich College of Commerce. He studied there from 1975-76 at the end of which he was awarded an' Associate membership of the British Institute of Management. (AMBIM). He returned to Nigeria and was employed as a Chief Accountant in the Pan African Bank Ltd. Port Harcourt. In 1977, he became an Associate member of the Association of Cer tified Accountants (ACCA). In the same year, he was made an Associate member of the In stitute of Chartered Accountants. Hon. Princewill was appointed Senior Lec turer and Head of the Department of Accoun tancy, College of Science and Technology Port-Harcourt. He was also in accountancy practice with Peat Mawick just before entering politics. Hon. Princewill, a member of the House of Representatives, is a christian by religion and he was influenced in early life by his close associattion with his parents. He married former Miss Rawe Bob Manuel in 1971 and they both have two sons. He has a female daughter by the former Miss Inyang Bassey. Hon. Princewill has travelled widely. He has visited among other places England, Belgium, Holland, France, Italy and a number of African Countries, as well as the United States of America. When not at his desk in the classroom or in practice he finds some time to play tennis and soccer. He is a member of the National Party of Nigeria representing Degema I Constituency of the Rivers State in the House of Represen tatives, and also the National Auditor of the Na tional Party of Nigeria. He is the Chairman of the House Committee on Public Accounts.
