KANU, Hon. Empire Ndukaku

was born on May 23, 1944 in Lagos. His father Chief Abel Kanu, a hotelier from Umuahia, Imo State had fifteen children while he is one of his mother's eight. Hon. Kanu attended Ahmadiyya College, Agege, Lagos, 1959 —1963 before proceeding to Handsworth College of Technology, Birm ingham, England in 1964. He also attended Wednesbury College of Commerce, Stafford shire, England between 1965 —1968. He has a Higher National Diploma in Business Studies and a Diploma of the Institute of Purchasing and Supply. Careerwise, he has been among others, the Product Group Manager of G.B. OLLIVANT, 1974. He was General Manager, Brian Munro Nig. Limited and later in 1968, he became an executive director of the company. He got married to former Miss Helen Olabimpe Shogbamu in 1970 and they have two children. He has visited U.K., Germany, France, USA, Canada and Jamaica. His hobby is tennis. Honourable Empire Ndukaku Kanu is a member of the Nigeria Peoples Party and he represents Ikwuano/Umuahia in the Federal House of Representatives.
