HASSAN, Hon. Irmiya D.

Hon. Hassan was born in February 1948 at Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State. Influenced in his early life by christian teachings, Hon. Hassan attended Kabwir Primary School and Gindiri Teachers' College, both in Plateau State, between 1959 and 1967. For the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) he attended Kano Advanced Teachers College from 1970 — 73. He later proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello Univesity, Zaria to obtain a Bachelor's degree in Education in 1977. Before taking to politics, Hon. Hassan served in various teaching capacities. He taught at a primary school in Pankshin in 1969 and at a Secondary School, Yola in 1974. Shortly before the beginning of political campaignsin 1979, he also taught at the Bauchi Teachers' College. He is married to former Zyelti Dazyeli (1976) and they have two children. Hon. Hassan has visited Britain, West Ger many and his hobbies are volleyball and bad-minton. He belongs to the Nigeria Peoples' Party and represents Dass-Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi State, in the House of Representatives.
