UYEH, Hon. J. U.

A veteran politician, Hon. J. U. Uyeh was born on April 20, 1932. He is from Mbayongo, Vandeikya, Benue State. His father, Uyeh Abo, had more than a hun dred Children, but Hon. Uyeh was influenced in his early lifeby christian missionaries. He attended P.R. School, Abwa from 1940-'46 and Tiv Middle School, Mkar from 1947-1949. He also trained as a nurse, at the School of Nursing, Mkar (1950-'54). Before becoming a member of Northern House of Assembly in 1961, he was an Assis tant Chief Nurse between 1958-'61. He was the chairman of the disbanded Mid dle Belt Congress of Nigeria in 1964 and an elected councillor for finance (1969-71), Hon. Uyeh was also a member of the Benue State Steering Committee in 1975. Hon. J. U. Uyeh married his wife Rhodah, a teacher in 1954. They have five children. He has visited the U.K., France, Italy and Switzerland. In his spare time he plays football and lawn tennis. A member of the National Party of Nigeria, Hon. Uyeh represents Vandeikya East in the House of Representatives.
