UGO, Hon. Joseph Kaatyo

Hon. Joseph Kaatyo Ugo was born in 1944 at Ugo in Benue State. He is one of the 50 children of late Mr. Ugo Ayaka, a farmer and Madam Iceya Ugo. He studied at the Tiv N.A. Junior Primary School, Aliade, from 1952-55; the Tiv N.A. Senior Primary School, Gboko (1955-56); St. Augustine's Teachers' College, 1962, but was asked to withdraw for being critical of the school administration. He went to the Ahmadu Bello University, Faculty of Law, (1969-72). Hon. Ugo obtained all his General Certificate of Education through private tuition before gaining admission into the university for his diploma in Law in 1972. Hon. Ugo worked as Assistant Inspector of Area'Courts in 1972 and as Higher Registrar from 1976 till January 1979 when he left the ser vice to contest federal elections into the House of Representatives. He servedin the Police Force from 1963-68. Achristian by faith, Hon. Ugo is married and has one child. His hobbies are reading, walking and music. He represents Gwer East, Benue State in the House of Representatives and is a member of the National Party of Nigeria.
