OKON, Hon. Atanga Eddy

Hon Okon Atanga Eddy represents Ikot Ekpene I Constituency, Cross River State, in the House of Representatives and he is a member of the National Party of Nigeria. Born on 30th September, 1940, at Ikot Idem Udo, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Hon. Okon Atanga Eddy is from a christian family and the only child of his parents. His mother Madam Nwa Ofun Edim is from Ikot Idem Udo. He had his primary education from 1948 to 1955 at the Methodist Primary School, Uruaotu, Ikot Ekpene, obtained his Teachers' Grades III and II Certificates in 1960 and 1965 respectively and finally received a Diploma in Social Administration in 1976 from the Univer sity of Lagos. He also passed the G.C.E. Or dinary level in three papers and Advanced level in twopapers in 1966 and 1976 respectively. Hon. Eddy taught for sometime and later became an Assistant Social Welfare Officer in 1976 and a Psychiatric Welfare Officer in 1978 until he was elected a member of the House of Representatives. He got married in 1962 to former Miss Ekanem Richard Effiong. They have four children. His hobby is reading.
