CHUKWU, Hon. Paulinus Umah

was born on 6th February, 1932, at Umuele Umuagwo in Imo State. He attended the Holy Family School, Umuagwo from 1941 - 1946, St. Peter's School, Elele, 1947, St. Thomas Acquinas School, Uratta, 1948, and the Holy Ghost Training College, Umuahia, 1950 —1951. He obtained his first school leaving certificate in December, 1948, Teachers Grade Three Cer tificate in 1951, and the Teachers Grade Two Certificate in 1973. As a trained teacher, he taught at the Holy Family School Umuagwo in 1949, Student Teacher-in-training, 1950 — 1951, Headmaster 1952, Second Master 1953 - 1956, Head master 1957 - 1972, Departmental Head 1973 to 1978. A christian by faith, he married the former Miss Rebecca Enyinnaya in 1955. They have many children. He is representing Ohaji/ Egbema/Oguta Constituency in the House of Representatives. He was the chairman of the Ohaji County Council from 1958 to 1960 and 1962 to 1963, member, the Owerri Provincial Assembly 1961 to 1966; Chairman, Mgbirichi Community Council 1971 to 1974; member, Oguta Divisional Council 1971 to 1976 and traditional ruler and President of the Umuagwo Traditional Rulers Assocation from 1976 — 1979. His hobbies are gaming, reading and debating. Mr. Chukwu was higly influenced early in life by watching traditional rulers in Council in his father's palace. His parents Mr. & Mrs. Umah and Ada Chukwu are both farmers and have ten children. He is a member of the N.P.P. for Ohaji/ Egbama/Oguta Constituency, Imo State in the House of Representatives.
