Hon. Roland Owie, member of the House of Representatives, was born in llobi near Benin on August 28, 1945. llobi is in Isi Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Bendel State. He is a Christian and he was influenced earlv in life by catholic doctrine and also by his parents who made him what he is today. His father, Pa Owie Enosabota, a farmer and trader at llobi, had eighteen of them. But he is the on ly child of his mother Madam Aghatise Owie, a trader. He attended St. Patrick Secondary Modern School in Benin City from 1958 - 1960. Upon the completion of his Secondary Modern School education he went to the Pilgrime Bap tist Teachers' Training College, Issele-Uku, Bendel State from 1961 - 1965. In 1968 he went to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from where he graduated in 1971 and later, he went to the Nigerian Institute of Management 1972- 1974. Hon. Roland Owie has the following Cer tificates: Modern Three Certificate 1960, Teachers Grade II Certificate January 1966, B.A. (Hons) Geography June 1971 and Cer tificate in Personnel Management 1974. He joined the Bendel State Ministry of Education where he served as Educational Of ficer from June 1971 - December 1973. He later joined Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, as Assis tant Secretary of the Institute before leaving in 1977. In June 1977, he became the Secretary of the Ethiope Publishina Corporation, Benin City. Apart from the details given above, he was a member of the Committee of Establishment Oficers of Polytechnic and Colleges of Technology. Also, he was a member of the Committee for the preparation and re-grading of all position in those institutions for the Public Service Review Commissions. Hon. Roland Owie is happily married to Helen and they have five children. His hobbies include football and volleyball. He represents Orhionmwon Constituency on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria.
