ALU, Hon. Samson Oko

was born on April 17, 1938 at Eziukwu, Kpoghirikpo, Afikpo. Early in his life he was influenced by his parents' firm, but loving discipline. He was also influenced by his Headmaster. Honourable Samson Oko Alu married Marge Culbertson in September 1968 and they have two children. Honourable Samson Oko Alu is one of the twenty one children of the late Chief Samson Alu Okoro, a teacher and farmer, and Madam Oji Ikpor. Honourable Alu attended Government School, Afikpo and later on went to St. Patrick's College, Asaba between 1951 to 1954. He attended the Yaba Technical School to ob tain the Cambridge School Certificate from 1954 to 1957. He then went to the Carnegie In stitute of Technology, U.S.A. between 1964 to 1967 and obtained his Bachelor Degree (Degree (B.S.) in Civil Engineering. He was at the Duquesne University, Pittsburgh between 1968 to 1970 for a Masters Degree programme in Business Administration. He was employed as a junior engineer and rose to the post of full engineer in 1970 at the U.S. Steel Corporation, Pittsburgh. He became the Bridge Specialist Assistant Chief Engineer, Pennsylvania Department of Highways In IS*. He was made the Manag.ng Director by the Nigerian American Industries Limited between ^He'hal held positions as Engineering Assis from 1964 to 1967; Structural Engineer, U.S. steel Co-operation, 1967 to 1970; and Bridge Engineer, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Pittsburgh, 1970 to 1975. He likes fishing and swimming and he has travelled to Canada, U.S.A., U.K., France, Brazil West Germany and Holland. He is a member of the National Party of Nigeria for Afikpo Constituency, Imo State.
