LAOSEBIKAN, Hon. Samuel Gbadegesin

HonourableSamuel Gbadegesin Laosebikan, a christian by faith was born on August 26, 1930 atIwoin Oyo State. His early life was influenced by his parents, Mr Salami, a farmerat Iwo and Mrs. Folashade Laosebikan. His father had five children. The local environment at Iwo and the christian education that he received at Iwo have madea lasting impressionon him. Honourable Laosebikan attended Baptist Day School, Iwo from 1936-1944, and later went to Baptist College, Iwo from 1945-1949. After a good performance at Baptist College, Iwo he travelled to London where he enrolled at the North-Western Polytechnics, London from September 1957 to June 1959. He later gained admission to the University of Shelfield, England, where he obtained his B.A. Honours in history and Government in June 1962. Before travelling abroad, he had a Teachers Higher Elementary Certificate in December 1950. Honourable Laosebikan worked with the Ministry of Education as a primary school teacher from January 1950 to 1954. Between 1955 and 1957 he was made a supervising teacher. Later in 1959 he became a school master. Finally in 1969 he was made Principal of a Grammar School. In September 1976, he was promoted Principal Grade II. He married his wife, former Florence Modupeola Ladapo in January 1961. They are blessedwith fourchildren. The countries hehas visited include Britain, Ireland, Rome, Las Palmas, Sierra-Leone and Ghana. At his leisure time, he keeps poultry, swims and plays lawnand tabletennis. He is a U.P.N, member and represents the Iwo West Constituency, Oyo State in the House of Representatives.
