lYORTIM, HON. VALETIN UNONGU

Hon. Valentin Unongu lyortim was born in 1948 at lyortim village in Mbagwen Dan, Makurdi Local Government Area. He is a christian and one of the 14 children of Mr. lyortim Yugh, a farmer. His mother, Madam Uvihin lyortim, whose is also a farmer has seven children. He got married to his wife Madam Sarah Shimentenge Chagh in August 1976. They have one child. Hon. lyortim attended the following educa tional institutions: R.C.M. Junior Primary School, Abo Abui, (1957-60); St. Theresa's Senior Primary School, Makurdi M961-63); Central Commercial College, Makurdi (1965-66); King's College, Makurdi Mkar- Gboko (1970-72); Advanced Teachers College, Katsina ala (1976-79). His educational and professional qualifica tions include; Primary Seven Certificate (1963); West African School Certificate (1972); Royal Society of Arts Certificate Stage II (1972); Nigeria Certificate of Education. Hon. lyortim worked briefly with the Manufacturer Delivery Services (M.D.S.), a division of U.A.C. Nigeria Ltd., Makurdi, from October 1973 to October 1976 as clerical officer (senior general duties clerk). He takes interest in farming, reading newspapers, and lawn tennis. He won the Makurdi Constituency seat to the House of Representatives on the ticket of the National Party of Nigeria.
