APAGU, Hon. Waba Agwana

Hon. Waba A. Apagu was representing Askira Uba Constituency in Borno State in the House of Representatives, was born on Oc tober 18, 1946 in his home town, Mussa. He is a n.ember of the National Party of Nigeria. He received his primary education in various schools from 1956 to 1962. In 1963 he gained admission into the Katsina Teachers College to train as a grade II teacher. Hon. Apagu com pleted the course in 1967 and the following year entered the Advanced Teachers College, Zaria. He obtained the Nigerian Certificate in Educa tion in 1971. He was admitted into the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1972 and graduated with B.A. (Hons) in 1975. He also read for the Master degree in the same University from 1977 to 1979. He is yet to be awarded the degree. Hon. Apagu has been in the teaching profes sion since he obtained the Teachers Grade II Certificate. He was Assistant Headmaster, Aya Primary School in Funtua in 1968. After obtain ing the NCE he was appointed Assistant Educa tion Officer in 1971. From August 1975 to July 1976 he served in the National Youth Service Corps in Lagos State. On the completion of the course, he was made an Education Officer and posted to the Government College, Maiduguri as the Vice Principal. From October 1977 to January 1979 he was Assistant Lecturer in the Department of History at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. A Christian, Hon. Apagu married his wife Jidayi in 1971 and they have five children. For Hon. Apagu, involvement in politics has been a life long ambition which he nursed since his days at the Katsina Teacher's College. He has visited Britain, Eastern Germany, Niger and Cameroun and his hobbies are reading, gardening and playing basketball.
