Born on August 27, 1962, Mr. E M. Ichendu graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Lagos, Akoka and currently running a Postgraduate Diploma in International Relations at the University of Port Harcourt. He first began his administrative career as a Library Assistant at the University of Port Harcourt between 1979 and 1980 before proceeding to the University of Lagos. On return in 1987, he was appointed as an Administrative Assistant in the Public Affairs Unit of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, a position he held until 1991 when he was promoted as an Administrative Officer. In 1992 he became Assistant Examinations & Records Officer at the Academic Division of the Registry.
His meticulous job found him worthy to be elevated as Assistant Registrar in 1994 and in October 1998 he got another promotion to the rank of Senior Assistant Registrar in-charge of Pensions & Welfare, a position he held till 2000 when he returned again to the Office of the Vice-Chancellor as Administrative Head & Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor. In 2001 he was promoted to the rank of Principal Assistant Registrar and rose to the position of Deputy Registrar in 2008. In 2010 he became Faculty Officer in charge of Faculty of Humanities and in 2011 he became Deputy Registrar in charge of College of Continuing Education of the University of Port Harcourt, where he served as the College Secretary until he was appointed the Registrar of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in April 2015.
Mr. Ejike M. Ichendu has held several Committee positions within and outside the University system including serving as Secretary or Vice-Chairman. He is a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management. A Rotarian and an Anglican by faith, Ejikemenwor Morrison Ichendu hails from Choba, in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
