Special Courses Attended: Advan ced Youth Leadership Training Course for West African Sub-region, at Mon rovia, Liberia, (1967) Organised by World Assembly of Youth; Special United Nations Industrial Develop ment Organisation (UNIDO) Training Programme on Industrial Estates, Hyderbad, India, (1969); Sectoral Planning Course for the Industrial Sector, Ibadan University, (1973); Special Trade Promotions Course for Developing Countries Organised by the Italian Trade Institute (ICE), Gaat and International Trade Centre, Rome, (1973). Working Experience: Appointed Commercial Officer in the North-Eastern State Public Service in September 1968 and immediately seconded to the Interim Common Services Agency (ICSA) to train for duties for promo tion of small scale industrtes; Appoin ted Secretary, Small Industries Credit Scheme of the North-Eastern State, (1969); Appointed the head of the Industrial Promotion Section in the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the North-Eastern State, 1971; Appointed Secretary of the Nigerian Enterprises Promotion Committee, North-Eastern State; transferred to the Ministry of External Affairs as External Affairs Officer, 1974; served in the Africa Department; posted to the Nigeria Embassy in Brussels, in June 1975, as First Secretary and later Counsellor at the Embassy with responsibility for negotiating trade relations with the European Economic Community and the Implementation of Agreements with the EEC, 1975-77; posted to the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations in New York as a Senior Counsellor, 1977-79; Member of the Nigerian Delegation to the Ninth Festival of Youths and Students Organised by World Democratic Youths, held in Sofia,Bulgaria, 1968; Member of the Nigerian Delegation to a seminar that discussed the role of Small Scale Industries in the Develop ment of West Africa, organised by Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), 1970; Member of several delegations from the then North Eastern State for negotiations of indu strial projects abroad. Students Union Activities and Poli tics: was Assistant Secretary General of the Students' Union of the Institute of Administration of Ahmadu Bello University, 1965-66;Secretary General of the Union in 1966-67; Elected the Vice-President (International Affairs) of National Union of Nigerian Stu dents (NUNS), 1967-68; Elected the First President of North-Eastern State Students' Association; Member of PI Alpha Alpha, the distinguished Public Administration Professional Body; Member of the Nigerian Economic Society.
