Biographical overview
Kaura contested the Senatorial Seat in 1991 under the PDP but he was not successful. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo appointed Sen. Tijjani Y.Kaura as the Co-ordinator National Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) representing Zamfara State. He was also appointed as the Federal Commissioner – National Population Commission of Nigeria from 2001-2003. In 2003, Sen. Tijjani Y. Kaura contested for the Senatorial Seat and again he was not successful. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo re-appointed Sen. Tijjani Y. Kaura as the Federal Commissioner – National Population Commission representing Zamfara State from 2003-2007. In 2007, Late President Umar Musa ‘Yar Adua appointed Sen. Tijjani Y. Kaura as the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Sen. Tijjani Yahaya Kaura left the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to the All Progressive Congress(APC). He was made the Secretary to State Goverment (SSG) of Zamfara State a month after he left PDP. In 2015, under the platform of the All Progressive Congress(APC), he contested for the Senatorial Seat in Zamfara North Constituency and won. Senator Tijjani Yahaya Kaura is currently the Senator representing Zamfara North Senatorial District in the Red Chamber in the 8th Assembly.
