University, Professor Kucha had worked previously at NEPA Power Stations at Ijora and Oji River (1975) as a youth corp member, Makurdi Campus Uni-Jos as Pupil Engineer, Central Mechanical Workshop, Plateau State, Research Officer (Engineering) and Head of Works Division, National Institute, Vom-Jos, Lecturer II, Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi, Plateau State; Graduate Training Assistant, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan USA; Instructor, Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina, USA and Lecturer I, A.B.U Zaria, Associate Professor (1990), Professor (1993). Professor Kucha has served the University, local community, state and nation in various positions and responsibilities, until his appointment as the 5th substantive Vice Chancellor of UAM (November 2012). He served as Pioneer Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dean, College of Engineering for 8 years; Director of Academic Planning; Member Governing Council of UAM and Dean, Postgraduate School at the time of his appointment. Engr. Prof. E. I. Kucha, a knight of Saint Mulumba, is happily married to Comfort and they are blessed with five children.
