FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, MAKURDI Engr. Professor Emmanuel Iornumbe Kucha, a reputable Engineer and Administrator, seasoned technocrat, a prolific researcher, a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics; Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers (COREN), Fellow, Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (FNIMechE); He is also a member, PL Tau Sigma (Mechanical Engineering Fraternity USA) Associate member Sigma xi ((International Scientific Society), and associate member American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air conditioning Engineers, and a community hero. Born 8th August, 1950, Emmanuel Iornumbe Kucha a native of Tiv, hails from Utyondo axis of Guma Local Government Area of Benue State. He studied variously at L.E.A Primary School Imon/Adudu (1958), Government College (now Barewa College) Secondary School Certificate (1970), School of Basic Studies, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria A’Level Certificate (1972) A.B.U. Zaria (B. Eng.,Mechanical Engineering 1975), M. Eng. (Mechanical Engineering 1980), Michigan USA PhD (Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Mechanics 1984). Nearly four decades of working experience which cuts across industry, Polytechnic and University, Professor Kucha had worked previously at NEPA Power Stations at Ijora and Oji River (1975) as a youth corp member, Makurdi Campus Uni-Jos as Pupil Engineer, Central Mechanical Workshop, Plateau State, Research Officer (Engineering) and Head of Works Division, National Institute, Vom-Jos, Lecturer II, Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi, Plateau State; Graduate Training Assistant, Michigan Technological University, Houghton, Michigan USA; Instructor, Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, North Carolina, USA and Lecturer I, A.B.U Zaria, Associate Professor (1990), Professor (1993). Professor Kucha has served the University, local community, state and nation in various positions and responsibilities, until his appointment as the 5th substantive Vice Chancellor of UAM (November 2012). He served as Pioneer Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dean, College of Engineering for 8 years; Director of Academic Planning; Member Governing Council of UAM and Dean, Postgraduate School at the time of his appointment. Engr. Prof. E. I. Kucha, a knight of Saint Mulumba, is happily married to Comfort and they are blessed with five children.
