Professor and Head, Department of Medicine, University of Lagos, President, West African College of Physicians; Born: March 31, 1920 at llesha, Oyo State; Education: St. John's school, lloro, llesha, 1926-32; Government College, Ibadan, 1933-38; Higher College, Yaba, 1939-40; began his medical studies at the School of Medicine, Yaba, Lagos, 1941-46, later attended the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, 1947-48 and the Postgraduate Medical School of Lon don, 1949, collecting all along a series of medical qualifications, pri zes and honours; further studies at the Institute of Cardiology, London, 1955; Institute of Neurology Lon don, 1957; University of Toronto, Canada, 1964-65 and Johns Hopskins Hospital Medical School and School of Hygiene U.S.A. 1965, appointed physician, special grade. Federal Ministry of Health, Lagos, 1952-56; was specialist physician, 1956-61 and senior specialist physlcian, 1961-69; appointed professor and head. Department of Medicine, University of Lagos in 1969, contri buted several scholarly articles in Bri tish, Nigeria and West African medical journals on the subjects of sickle cell anaemia, viral hepatitis and heart diseases and pregnancy; was registrar of the Nigeria Medical Council, 1966-75; member, Provisio nal Councif of the University of Ife, 1963-66 and president, Association of Physicians of Nigeria, 1965- 67; currently president. West Afri can College of Physicians; member W.H.O.
