Mr. S.L. Magawata is an elected member of the Assembly representing Bassa Federal Constituency of Plateau State. He was born on November 2, 1946 in Kasuru, Plateau State. He hails from Jengre also in Plateau State. He went to primary school from 1957 to 1964 and later Commonwealth College of Com merce, Jos from 1968 to 1972. From 1974 to 1975, he undertook extra-mural classes at the University of Jos. He later obtained GCE '0' Level and Group Certificate in R.S.A. Stage II. Mr. Magawata worked with Bata (Nigeria) Limited., Jos from 1964 to 1967. He was the Chairman, Highland Bottling Co. Bakin/Ladi from 1982 to 1983. He is married with eight children and his hob bies are hockey, travelling, meeting people and reading.
