NNABUIHE, John Uchechukwu

John Uchechukwu Nnabuihe was born on 18th May, 1962 in Port Harcourt to the family of Daniel Osuji and Christiana Onyejiego Nnabuihe now of blessed memory. He hails from Umueze Umunachi, Osuama, Isiala Mbano L.G.A, Imo State. John Nnabuihe obtained his West African School Certificate Grade I at Government Secondary School Owerri in 1979. He then proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and bagged a Second Class Upper Division in Mass Communication in 1984, and capped it with a Masters degree in Broadcasting from Abia State University Uturu. John Nnabuihe also had the privilege of obtaining a Certificate in Management of Higher Education from Galilee International Management Institute, Israel. He is currently on his thesis for a Ph.D in Electronic Media Sequence. John Nnabuihe had brief stints in Broadcasting and Advertising before joining the services of the Federal University of Technology in August 1989. He rose through the ranks of University administration for over twenty-seven years, including serving as one time Registrar of Tansian University Umunya, Anambra State, before he was appointed Registrar Federal University of Technology, Owerri in October 2016. He is a member of various Professional bodies among which are: Nigeria Institute of Public Relation (NIPR), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Association of Nigeria Professional University Administrators (ANUPA). He was elected a member of the Governing Council of NIPR from 2009 to 2013. He has attended over 25 Conferences both Local and International. John served the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) as Branch Chairman FUTO, Pioneer Eastern Zonal Coordinator and Member Board of Trustees. Before his appointment as the Registrar of FUTO he was one of the most experienced trade unionists SSANU had at the National level having served in two consecutive SSANU/FGN Negotiation Teams in 1999-2001 and 2007-2009. He was also president of his Town Union for two terms from 2005 to 2013
