Honourable Olakanmi Obiyemi was born in Ifewara, Oyo State on October 26, 1936. His father, Late Mr. Samuel Obiyemi who was a farmer, had eleven children. His mother, Mrs. Florence Obilanu, a trader, has three children. He married Mrs. Mojirola Adunni Obiyemi in July, 1962. They have eight children. A devoted Christian, Mr. Obiyemi attende St. Stephens School, Ifewara from 1943 to 1947. Ho was at the U.M. School, Esa Oke bet ween 194S to 1950 and attended O.B.H.S., On do from 1951 to 1954. Between 1955 to 1956 he wasatG.T.T.C, Ibadan. He is so academically inclined that he was able to secure admission into the University of London, where he was between 1962 to 1965. He obtained the West African School Cer tificate in 1955, the Grade II Teachers Cer tificate in 1956, B.Sc. Econs. (Int) in 1964 and B.L. in 1965. He obtained the LLB (Lond.) before returning to Nigeria. He was a teacher at Ife Grammar School, llelfe from 1957 to 1959 and the Principal of L.A. Secondary Modern School from 1959 to 1961. He practised law from 1966 to 1977 and was appointed Chairman of the Atakumosa Local Government for three years from 1977 to 1979. Hon. Obiyemi who is interested in hunting and fishing has travelled to Britain, France and Western Germany. He is a member of the Unity Party of Nigeria and represents Atakumosa Constituency, Oyo State in the House of Representative
