SURU, UMARU D

Captain Umaru Suru (rtd) an elected member, represents Dakin Gari/Suru Federal Constituency, Sokoto State. He was born in Suru Town, Sokoto State on November 18, SURU, UMARU D. 1946. He attended Suru/Bunza Primary School, 1953—1959, Junior Secondary School, Birnin Kebbi, 1960-61, Gombe Higher Teachers' College, 1962—1965 and the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna. He was also at the Command and Staff College, Jaji in 1980, the School of Infantry and Tactics, Pakistan, 1978—79 and the Institute of Personnel Management, Indiana, U.S.A. 1981-1982. He is a farmer and businessman. Captain Suru was a teacher before joining the Army as an Education Instructor. In 1974, he wrote and published a book in Hausa titled 'Wakakken Labarin Suru'. He is married with two children. His hobbies are writing Hausa songs and social criticism.
