Following the National Assembly election rerun in Imo State in July 2016, Ben Uwajumogu emerged the winner of the Imo North Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress defeating the PDP candidate who was declared winner in the previous election, Chief Athan Achonu. Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu is a Christian and is married to Mrs Elleen Benjamin Uwajumogu and they are blessed with three children. Senator Ben's hobbies include meeting people and travelling. Senator Ben Uwajumogu has been recognised with lots of awards and traditional titles including: Industrialist of the Year 2000 Award by the Nigeria Chamber of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Abia State Guardian Newspaper ‘Integrity and Credibility’ Award Best Speakers’ (Nigeria) Award Fellow Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, the Paul Harris Fellow Award by the Rotary Club International, Enugu District. Traditional titles include: Ogbuhuru Uzo Okigwe” (meaning one who brings development) which was conferred on him in one spirit and with one voice by the entire Okigwe zone traditional rulers.
