BASHORUN JONATHAN OLADELE AWOFISAYO;JP.!!! Bashorun Oladele Awofisayo,was born,20th May 1939.His father,was,Late Mr.Michael Olatunji Awofisayo and mum Madam Ebunoluwa Aduke,from Abereoje compound, itaagbon,Ile Ife.Young Oladele,attended Methodist Primary school,ibadan,old Western Regional capital between 1946-1953,he came back home to attend the famous Oduduwa college,ile Ife,1955-1959.While at College,he was a great Sports'man and leader.He was the school's Football team Captain and Head of Aderemi House of the College.Dele completed his West African school certificate,in flying colors and went on to attend the Federal school or Forestry 1960-1961, bagging the Diploma of the School of Forestry and worked briefly as a Forestry Assistant,in ibadan..till 1964..Dele was determined, to better his lot,struggled on..Got admitted into the prestigious University of Nsukka Enugu state,in 1964,with this ambitious young man's educational pursuit got truncated by the Nigeria's Crisis that led to the Biafra civil war, which forced him to return back to the west..He was absorbed,into the University of ibadan, where he completed his BSc degree in Geology in 1969 and was employed by the Federal dept of Forestry,as a soil officer,same year.In 1970, Awofisayo opted to return home to serve his hometown, picked teaching appointment with Oduduwa college,his Alma matta.Dele Awofisayo taught for seven years 1970-1976,in the great College, before he was transferred to Orile Owu grammar school, where he retired as a Vice Principal,in 1977. After his retirement, he went into quarry operations business and thereby crushing stones to produce granite chippings for road and concrete works at Abereoje farmland off kola-famia Road Ile-Ife. Oladele Awofisayo is an accomplished public servant,as he eventually went into Politics.He was in the Unity Party of nigeria,led by Chief Obafemi Awolowo..infact he was the party's Secretary,for ile ife,under the leadership of Late Chief Michael Omisade..He quietly,continued,the struggle,despite,the military take-over and rule,that followed,with his,gamble paying off as he went,on to become,the Chairman of the Oranmiyan Local Government School Board, for over two years;1987-1989. As the desire of the military to plan a return to Civil rule,started to manifest..it was decided that a,new constitution be prepared for the country.. History would remember that Oladele Awofisayo was part of the Wise men and Women,that prepared the draft document,as he was elected to represent ile Ife's Oranmiyan Local Govt,1987-1989 National Constituent Assembly, Abuja to fashion out Nigerian Constitution. Dele Awofisayo also have to his credit,that he was the prime mover of a clause that suggested a provision prohibiting, discriminating or allowing any child to suffer,or be casted in any negative form as a result of any circumstances surrounding his or her birth.To God be the glory,that draft went on to become part of the country's,Constitution,till today. Oladele Awofisayo,was later in life appointed, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Water resources & rural development, of Osun state between,2003-2005,under the PDP Government of Governor Oyinlola.During this period,he ensured that ile Ife residents and establishments in it's environs benefitted from his Ministry as several boreholes and portable water supply were adequately provided.,Over ten(10) Secondary schools, Obafemi Awolowo University and Seventh Day Adventist Hospitals benefitted.Luck equally smiled on him,as he got appointed as the Osun State Representative at the Federal Character Commission Abuja spending two terms of five years,each between 2009-2019.History will equally remember him for facilitating employment of many young Ife indigines into federal government establishments.He was one of the associates of Otunba Senator Iyiola Omisore,for whose cause,he suffered,as he and other Political stalwarts,were briefly detained fighting for his cause and that of ile ife.He was later in life, installed as the 'Bashorun of Mooroland',a town in the Ife North Local Govt of Osun state.Bashorun Awofisayo is a complete gentleman..very easy going and devoid of scandals.He is a very modest politicia and his foot-print shall still be indellible in the sands of time,as he was part of the struggle that made the creation of the old Oranmiyan Local Government Council into,Ife Central,Ife East,Ife South and ife North.In the area of Socials, Bashorun,is not found wanting as he is a good Member of Ife Club 25,Ife Recreation club, Ibadan Ring Road Club and the Rotary club.In the House God, he's known very well in the Anglican faith as he worships at St.Peter's Anglican Cathedral, Aiyetoro,ile Ife, where he is a Member of Aiyetoro improvement League since 1971 and also Baba Egbe Aya-Bishop of same church.He is equally,a Jerusalem pilgrim.In the area of business,he is the Chairman/CEO of Fisayo Oil and Gas Limited affiliated to NNPC Retail Ltd Iloro area of the city. Bashorun Dele Awofisayo, remained a patroit, always,very committed to the cause of this great Ife kingdom. Bashorun Dele Awofisayo is married to beautiful nursing matron Mary Abiodun Awofisayo and they are blessed with many children. May God continue to help him,conclude his good works. MAY GOD THEREFORE,SPARE THE LIFE OF THIS PATROITIC SON.. TO BE ABLE, TO CONTINUE, TO GIVE HIS ALL, TO THE SOURCE AND THE HUMANITY AT LARGE. Bashorun Dele Awofisayo is recognised as one of Ile-Ife icons!
