Minapuye I. Odigi, Professor of Petroleum Geology and Economic Geology is currently the occupant of O.B. Lulu-Briggs Chair in Petroleum Geosciences, Institute of Petroleum Studies University of Port Harcourt. He is the coordinator of Research Group on Basin Studies and Petroleum Geology, Department of Geology University of Port Harcourt. Minapuye I. Odigi graduated from the University of Ibadan (B.Sc. Hons Geology), MSc (Mineral Exploration) and University of Port Harcourt (PhD) Clastic Sedimentology/Petroleum Geology). He began his career as a field geologist in Nigeria Geological Survey; engaged in geologic field mapping of both basement and sedimentary Cretaceous sedimentary rocks and solid mineral exploration in Nigeria. Later taught geology at the University of Port Harcourt in 1983 to present, and worked briefly for Shell Petroleum Development Company for 1 (one) year as consultant exploration geologist. His main area of research is Clastic sedimentology and Petroleum geology of the Niger Delta and Benue Trough respectively. His research interests include Mesozoic and Cenozoic Basins of West Africa, on riverdominated delta, wave-dominated shore-line and alluvial fan sediments which accumulated in the inland structurally controlled sedimentary basins of Nigeria.
